Major Edward Heathcote Smith was born on 18 May 1813.1 He was the son of Sir John Wyldbore Smith, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Anne Marriott.2 He married Christina Mackintosh, daughter of William Mackintosh, on 29 January 1839.1 He died on 26 November 1870 at age 57.1
