     Major Edward Clarke was born in 1716 at New York, U.S.A.G.1 He was the son of George Clarke and Anne Hyde.1 He married Elisabeth Guthrie, daughter of Colonel James Guthrie of Guthrie and Margaret Turnbull, at JamaicaG.1 He died on 6 September 1776 at Buxton, Derbyshire, EnglandG.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 22 February 1730 at New York, U.S.A.G, in the Captain Holland's Independent Company.1 He was Commissioner of Indian Affairs in 1738 at Albany, Albany County, New York, U.S.A.G.1 He fought in the Capture of Havana in 1762, commanding company of Albany Provincials.1

     Elisabeth Guthrie was born in 1711.1 She was the daughter of Colonel James Guthrie of Guthrie and Margaret Turnbull.1 She married Major Edward Clarke, son of George Clarke and Anne Hyde, at JamaicaG.1 She married William Williams.1 She married, firstly, Colonel Richard Haughton, son of Jonathan Hawtayne and Mary Dehaney, in 1737.1 She was also reported to have died on 14 October 1764.1
     Her married name became Williams.1 Her married name became Clarke.1 From 1737, her married name became Haughton.1

     Colonel Richard Haughton was born in 1691.1 He was the son of Jonathan Hawtayne and Mary Dehaney.1 He married, firstly, Rebekah James, daughter of Thomas James.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Goodin, daughter of George Goodin and Sarah (?).1 He married, thirdly, Elisabeth Guthrie, daughter of Colonel James Guthrie of Guthrie and Margaret Turnbull, in 1737.1 He was also reported to have died on 15 January 1740.1

     He was Secretary of the Province of New York in 1703.1 He was Member of the Executive Council of New York in 1716.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of New York in 1736.1
