     Maj.-Gen. Benedict Arnold was born in 1741.1 He was the son of Benedict James Arnold and Hannah King.1 He married Margaret Shippen, daughter of Edward Shippen and Margaret Francis.1 He died in 1801.1 He was buried on 14 June 1801 at St. Mary's Church, Battersea, London, England.1
     He gained the rank of Major-General in the American Army.1 He fought in the American War of Independence.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the British Army.1
