William, 5th Earl of Mar1

     William, 5th Earl of Mar was the son of Duncan, 4th Earl of Mar.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Comyn, daughter of William Comyn, Earl of Buchan and Margaret, Countess of Buchan.2 He married, secondly, Muriel of Strathearn, daughter of Malise, 5th Earl of Strathearn.2 He died from 16 May 1291 to 12 November 1291.3 He was also reported to have died in 1281.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Mar [S., c. 1115] before 7 February 1243/44.1 He was Chamberlain to King Alexander III of the Scots circa 1252.1 He was member of the Council of Regency of Scotland circa 1255.1 He held the office of Chamberlain of Scotalnd between 1262 and 1264.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Dunbartonshire between 1264 and 1266.1

     Elizabeth Comyn was the daughter of William Comyn, Earl of Buchan and Margaret, Countess of Buchan.1 She married William, 5th Earl of Mar, son of Duncan, 4th Earl of Mar.2 She died in 1267.2

     Duncan, 4th Earl of Mar was the son of Morgund Mac Gylocher, 2nd Earl of Mar and Agnes (?)1 He died after 7 February 1244.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Mar [S., c. 1115] before 29 August 1229.1 In 1237 he was witness to the Anglo-Scottish agreement sealed in the autumn 1237.1

Morgund Mac Gylocher, 2nd Earl of Mar1

     Morgund Mac Gylocher, 2nd Earl of Mar married Agnes (?)2 He died before 30 March 1183.2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Mar [S., c. 1115] after 1133.2 Before 1152 he was witness to a charter of King David I and his son Henry to Dunfermline.2

William Comyn, Earl of Buchan1

     William Comyn, Earl of Buchan was the son of Richard Comyn, Lord of Tynedale and Hextilda (?) He married, firstly, Sarah FitzHugh, daughter of Robert FitzHugh. He married, secondly, Margaret, Countess of Buchan, daughter of Fergus, 4th Earl of Buchan, before 1210.1 He died in 1233.1
     He founded the Abbey of Deer in Buchan.1 He held the office of Justiciar [Scotland].1 He gained the title of Earl of Buchan, in right of his wife.1

Margaret, Countess of Buchan1

     Margaret, Countess of Buchan was the daughter of Fergus, 4th Earl of Buchan.1 She married, secondly, William Comyn, Earl of Buchan, son of Richard Comyn, Lord of Tynedale and Hextilda (?), before 1210.1 She died between 8 April 1242 and 1244.1
     She succeeded as the 5th Countess of Buchan [S., c. 1115] before 1199.1 From before 1210, her married name became Comyn.1

     Richard Comyn, Lord of Tynedale married Hextilda (?), daughter of Uchtred FitzWaldeve and Bethoc of Scotland, between 1152 and 1159.1 He died after 1177.
     He gained the title of Lord of Tynedale.

     Hextilda (?) was the daughter of Uchtred FitzWaldeve and Bethoc of Scotland.1 She married, firstly, Richard Comyn, Lord of Tynedale between 1152 and 1159.2 She married, secondly, Malcolm, 2nd Earl of Atholl, son of Madach, 1st Earl of Atholl and unknown wife (?), between 1164 and 1166.3
     Her married name became Comyn. After her marriage, Hextilda (?) was styled as Countess of Atholl between 1164 and 1166.

     Uchtred FitzWaldeve married Bethoc of Scotland, daughter of Donald III 'Donald bane', King of Scotland.1
     He was also known as Huctred of Tynedale.2 He was also known as Uctred of Tynedale.3 He was also known as Waltheof of Tynedale.3
