Godfrey Marcus Goodbody was born on 16 April 1898.1 He was the son of Marcus Goodbody and Lydia Maria Fisher.2 He married Iris Eldina Sillery, daughter of John William Sillery, on 30 June 1926.1 He died on 4 December 1958 at age 60.1
He was educated at Portora Royal School, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, IrelandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1918.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.1 He was Managing Director and Chairman of Friends' Provident & Century Insurance Company (Ireland.)1
