Charles William Maxwell was born circa 1889.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Henry St. Patrick Maxwell and Joan Gordon (?)1,3 He married Ida Frances Clarke, daughter of Colonel Henry Stephenson Clarke and Arabella Rose, on 1 February 1913.1 He died on 23 November 1914 at France, killed in action.2
He fought in the First World War.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion, 8th Gurkha Rifles.1 He had one son.1
