Francis William Caulfeild, 2nd Earl of Charlemont was born on 3 January 1775.1 He was the son of James Caulfeild, 1st Earl of Charlemont and Mary Hickman.2 He married Anne Bermingham, daughter of William Bermingham and Mary Ruttledge, on 9 February 1802.1 He died on 26 December 1863 at age 88 at Marino, County Dublin, IrelandG, without surviving issue.3
He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, in 1794 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Armagh [Ireland] between 1797 and 1799.1 He succeeded as the 9th Lord Caulfeild, Baron of Charlemont, co. Armagh [I., 1620] on 4 August 1799. He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Charlemont, co. Armagh [I., 1763] on 4 August 1799.1 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Charlemont, co. Armagh [I., 1665] on 4 August 1799.1 He held the office of Representative Peer [Ireland] between 1806 and 1863.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of St. Patrick (K.P.) on 10 October 1831.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] on 13 February 1832.3 He was created 1st Baron Charlemont, of Charlemont, co. Armagh [U.K.] on 13 February 1837, with a special remainder to his brother.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of County Tyrone between 1839 and 1863.3 He held the office of Custos Rotulorum of County Tyrone between 1841 and 1863.3

Mary Bermingham was the daughter of William Bermingham.1 She married Nathaniel Clements, 2nd Earl of Leitrim, son of Robert Clements, 1st Earl of Leitrim and Lady Elizabeth Skeffington, on 24 July 1800.1 She died on 5 February 1840.
