Sir James Ramsay, 8th Bt. was born on 26 September 1797.2 He was the son of Sir William Ramsay, 7th Bt. and Agnetta Frances Biscoe.2 He married Jane Oliphant, daughter of John Hope Oliphant and Jean Wedderburn, on 9 February 1828.1 He died on 1 January 1859 at age 61, without issue.2
He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Ramsay, of Bamff, co. Perth [N.S., 1666] on 17 February 1807.1 He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2
