     James Scorgie Meston, 1st Baron Meston was born on 12 June 1865.1 He was the son of James Meston and Jane Greig Scorgie.2 He married Jeanie McDonald, daughter of James McDonald, on 10 December 1891.1 He died on 7 October 1943 at age 78.1
     He was educated at King's College, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.1 He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was in the Indian Civil Service in 1883.1 He was Finance Secretary, Government of the United Provinces between 1899 and 1903.1 He was advisor to the Governments of the Cape Colony and Transvaal on Civil Service Reform between 1904 and 1906.1 He was Secretary of the Finance Department, Government of India between 1906 and 1912.1 He was Temporary Finance Member, Council of the Governor-General of India in 1908.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.) in 1908.1 He held the office of Member of the Imperial Legislative Council in 1909.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Star of India (K.C.S.I.) in 1911.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh between 1912 and 1918.1 He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.D.) in 1914.1 He was representative for India to the Imperial War Cabinet and Conference in 1917.1 He held the office of Finance Member, Council of the Governor-General of India between 1918 and 1919.1 He was created 1st Baron Meston, of Agra and Dunottar, co.      Jeanie McDonald was the daughter of James McDonald.2 She married James Scorgie Meston, 1st Baron Meston, son of James Meston and Jane Greig Scorgie, on 10 December 1891.1 She died on 23 December 1946.1
     She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)1 She was appointed Dame of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.G.St.J.)1 From 10 December 1891, her married name became Meston. After her marriage, Jeanie McDonald was styled as Baroness Meston on 29 November 1916.

     Dougall Meston, 2nd Baron Meston was born on 17 December 1894.1 He was the son of James Scorgie Meston, 1st Baron Meston and Jeanie McDonald.2 He married Diana Mary Came Doll, daughter of Captain Otto Sigismund Doll, on 12 July 1947.1 He died on 2 January 1984 at age 89.1
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He gained the rank of Captain Inn 1924 in the Royal Artillery.1 He fought in the Afghan War in 1919.1 He gained the rank of Waziristan Campaign between 1919 and 1920.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Meston, of Agra and Dunottar, co. Kincardine [U.K., 1919] on 7 October 1943.1
