Helen Elphinstone was born on 27 August 1589.2,3 She was the daughter of Alexander Elphinstone, 4th Lord Elphinstone and Jean Livingstone.4 She married, secondly, Henry Rollo.1 She married, firstly, Sir William Cockburn of Langton, 1st Bt., son of William Cockburn of Langton and Janet Home, circa 1600.1,5 She died circa 1 February 1675.2 She was buried on 4 February 1675.2

Sir William Cockburn of Langton, 1st Bt. was the son of William Cockburn of Langton and Janet Home.2,3 He married Helen Elphinstone, daughter of Alexander Elphinstone, 4th Lord Elphinstone and Jean Livingstone, circa 1600.1,3 He died circa December 1628.3
He held the office of Principal Usher [Scotland] in 1587.4,2 In 1595 he was granted the lands and barony of Langtoun.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Berwickshire [Scotland] in 1612.2 He was created 1st Baronet Cockburn of Langton, co. Berwicks [Nova Scotia] on 22 November 1622, with special remainder to heirs male whatsoever.2
