     John Hamilton of Udston was born in 1567.2 He was the son of William Hamilton, 5th of Udston and Margaret Hamilton.1,3 He married Margaret Muirhead, daughter of Sir James Muirhead, 7th of Lauchope.3 He died between 1593 and 1627.2
     He lived on 20 April 1593 at Udston, ScotlandG.1

     Sir James Muirhead, 7th of Lauchope was born circa 1531.2 He was the son of James Muirhead, 6th of Lauchope and Janet Baillie.2 He married Janet Hamilton, daughter of David Hamilton of Bothwellhaugh and Christian Schaw.2 He married Janet Aikenhead.2 He married, thirdly, Margaret Cunninghame circa 25 January 1587.2 He died in October 1622.2
     He lived at Lauchope, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 He was appointed Knight between 1617 and 1621 by King James VI.2

     William Hamilton, 5th of Udston also went by the nick-name of Willie 'Wisehead'.3 He lived at Udston, ScotlandG.4

     John Hamilton of Udston was the son of John Hamilton, 1st of Neilsland and Elizabeth Hamilton of Udston.1 He married Margaret Dalziel, daughter of Sir Robert Dalziel of that Ilk.2 He died on 13 May 1568 at Langside, Perthshire, ScotlandG, killed in action.1
     He lived at Udston, ScotlandG.1 He fought in the Battle of Langside on 13 May 1568, fighting for Mary Queen of Scots.2
