     He gained the rank of Captain in the Shropshire Light Infantry.1

     Stevenson Lyle Cummins was born on 18 June 1873.1 He was the son of William Jackson Cummins and Letitia Stevenson.2 He married Eleanor Fenton Hall, daughter of Robert Constable Hall and Geraldine Maria Aylmer, on 28 July 1906.1 He died on 26 May 1949 at age 75.1
     He graduated from Queen's College, Cork, County Cork, IrelandG, with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)1 He fought in the Nile Expedition between 1898 and 1899.1 He fought in the Sudan Campaign between 1900 and 1902.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1915.1 He was awarded the Officer, Crown of Belgium.1 He was Director of Medical Services between 1917 and 1921.1 He was awarded the Order of Osmanieh 4th class.1 He was awarded the Legion d'Honneur.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1919.1 He was Professor between 1919 and 1921 at RAM CollegeG.1 He retired from the military in 1921, with the rank of Colonel, late of the Royal Army Medical Corps.1 He graduated with a Doctor of Law (LL.D.)1 He was David Davies Professor of TB at Welsh National School of Medicine, Cardiff, Glamorgan, WalesG.1
