Admiral Thomas Saumarez was born on 21 March 1827.2 He was the son of Admiral Richard Saumarez and Anne Ellson.2 He married, firstly, Agnes Jean Block, daughter of S. Block, on 30 November 1854.2 He married, secondly, Eleanor Riley, daughter of Benjamin Scott Riley, in 1868.1
He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)2 He gained the rank of Admiral.2
