Commander David Franks Townsend was born on 5 April 1912.1 He was the son of Crewe Armand Hamilton Townsend and Rhoda Mary Whitmore Franks.2 He married Miriam Lampen, daughter of Canon Herbert Dudley Lampen, on 17 November 1939.1 He died in February 2001 at age 88 at Chelmsford, Essex, England.3
He fought in the Second World War.1 He was commander of the H.M.S. Newark and H.M.S.
