     Brigadier Hubert Francis Lucas was born on 21 January 1897.¹ He was the son of Francis Granville Lewis Lucas and Mary Frances Bovill.² He married Evelyn Irene Sophie Phipps-Hornby, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Edmund John Phipps-Hornby, V.C., on 24 August 1920.^2,3 He died circa January 1990.³
     He lived at Linch Close, Charminster, Dorset, England.⁴ He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England^G.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England^G.¹ He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Brigadier in 1940 in the Royal Engineers.¹ He was in charge of the Administration, Malaya between 1940 and 1942 where he became a POW.¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1946.¹

     Brig.-Gen. Edmund John Phipps-Hornby, V.C. was born on 31 December 1857 at Lordington, Hampshire, England^G.^2,3 He was the son of Admiral of the Fleet Sir Geoffrey Thomas Phipps Hornby.⁴ He died on 13 December 1947 at age 89 at Sonning, Berkshire, England^G.^2,3 He was buried at St. Andrews Churchyard, Sonning, Berkshire, England^G.³
