     Lt.-Col. Charles Frederick Minchin was born on 22 September 1862.1 He was the son of Charles Nicholls Minchin and Mary Jane Morgan Lugard.2 He married Violet Winifred Ellis, daughter of Henry Ellis, in 1905.1 He died on 7 December 1943 at age 81.1
     He was educated at Westward Ho! School, Westward Ho!, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was educated at United Services College, Westward Ho!, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1882 in the Bedfordshire Regiment.1 He was commissioned in 1885, in the service of the Indian Army.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1886 in the 1st (Prince Albert Victor's Own) Punjab Cavalry, Indian Army.1 He was with the Indian Political Department in 1891.1 He was second in command of an expdn sent by British West Charterland Company, London to Lake Ngami Country in South Africa in 1897.1 He was Assistant Political Officer, Khyber, Chitral and Gilgat.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, with the South African Field Force and with Thorneycroft's Mounted Infantry.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 18th Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry.1 He was Political Agent to Bikanir in 1902.1 He was Consul-General to Khorassan and Seistan in 1904.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian Army.1 He was Superintendant of the Gazeteer revision, Baluchistan in 1906.1 He was Political Agent, Dir, Swat, Chitral and the North-West Frontier Province in 1907.1 He was Political Agent, Baghelkhand in 1908.1 He was Deputy Commissioner of Bannu between 1909 and 1910.1 He held the office of Divisional and Sessions Judge of Derajat between 1911 and 1921.1 He had one daughter.1
