Colonel Allan Vesey Ussher was born on 13 September 1860.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. John Theophilus Ussher and Annabella Ross.1 He married Florence Critchley-Salmonson, daughter of Bernard Critchley-Salmonson.1 He died on 23 February 1941 at age 80.1
He was educated at Stubbington House School, Fareham, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Nigeria Campaign in 1892, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He fought in the Boer War in 1902.1 He retired from the military in 1911, with the rank of Colonel, late of the 2nd Battalion, The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles.)1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches, and was wounded at the Battle of Loos.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 10th Battalion, The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles.)1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1917.1
