     George James Charles FitzWilliam also went by the nick-name of Toby.1 In March 1951 a case was heard to see if he could inherit the title of Earl Fitzwilliam under Scottish law.1

     Henry George Strauss, 1st and last Baron Conesford was born on 24 June 1892.1 He was the son of Alphonse Henry Strauss.1 He married Anne Sadelbia Mary Nichols, daughter of John Bowyer Buchanan Nichols and Catherine Louisa Bouverie-Pusey, on 29 January 1927.1 He died on 28 August 1974 at age 82.3
     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1915 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1919 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1919.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Norwich between November 1935 and June 1945.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary between 1936 and 1942, to the Attorney-General.1 He held the office of Joint Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Works between 1942 and 1943.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Town and Country Planning between 1943 and 1945.1 He was appointed King's Counsel (K.C.) in 1946.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for English Universities between March 1946 and February 1950.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Norwich, South Division between February 1950 and April 1955.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary, Board of Trade between 1951 and 1955.1 He was created 1st Baron Conesford, of Chelsea, co. London [U.K.] on 12 May 1955.1 He held the office of Bencher of the Inner Temple in 1969.1 On his death, his title became extinct.3
