Alexander Elphinstone, 7th Lord Elphinstone was born before 1649. He was the son of Alexander Elphinstone, 6th Lord Elphinstone and Lilias Elphinstone.1 He married Anne Burnet, daughter of Alexander Burnet, on 10 September 1667.2 He died in May 1669, without issue.2
He succeeded as the 7th Lord Elphinstone [S., 1510] on 26 October 1654.2 In 1655 his father's fine of 1654 was reduced by two-thirds because of the family's impoverishment.2

Alexander Elphinstone, 6th Lord Elphinstone was the son of James Elphinstone and Margaret Forbes.1 He married Lilias Elphinstone, daughter of Alexander Elphinstone, 5th Lord Elphinstone and Elizabeth Drummond. He died on 26 October 1654.2
He succeeded as the 6th Lord Elphinstone [S., 1510] in 1649.2 He was a Royalist during the Civil War.2 In 1654 he was fined £1,000.2

Patrick Murray, 5th Lord Elibank was born on 27 February 1702/3.1 He was the son of Alexander Murray, 4th Lord Elibank and Elizabeth Stirling.2 He married Maria Margaretta de Yong, daughter of Cornelius de Yong, Lord of Elmeet, in 1735.1 He died on 3 August 1778 at age 75, without issue.1
He was a practising Advocate in 1723.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Murray, of Etrick Forest, co. Selkirk [N.S., 1628] on 6 February 1735/36.1 He gained the title of 5th Lord Elibank, of Etrick Forest, co. Selkirk [S., 1643] on 6 February 1735/36.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Wynyard's Marines in 1739.1 He fought in the Cartagena Expedition in 1741.1

Reverend Hon. Gideon Murray was born on 5 February 1710.1 He was the son of Alexander Murray, 4th Lord Elibank and Elizabeth Stirling. He married Elizabeth Montolieu, daughter of General David Montolieu, Baron de St. Hypolite and Marie Molinier, on 30 June 1746.2 He died on 21 June 1776 at age 66.2
He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)2 He was Chaplain to 43rd (later 42nd) Highlanders in 1745.2 He held the office of Chaplain-General of the Army in 1749.2 He held the office of Prebendary of Durham.

Alexander Murray, 7th Lord Elibank was born on 24 April 1747.2 He was the son of Reverend Hon. Gideon Murray and Elizabeth Montolieu.2 He married, firstly, Mary Clara Montolieu, daughter of Lt.-Col. Louis Charles Montolieu, Baron de St. Hypolite and Elizabeth Leheup, on 20 May 1776.2 He married, secondly, Catherine Steuart, daughter of James Steuart, in 1804.1 He died on 24 September 1820 at age 73.1
