     John Grattan Guinness was born in 1783.1 He was the son of Arthur Guinness and Olivia Whitmore.2 He married, firstly, Susanna Hutton, daughter of Henry Hutton, on 14 February 1810.1,3 He married, secondly, Jane Mary Lucretia Cramer, daughter of William Cramer, on 5 January 1829.1 He died in 1850.4
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Honourable East India Company Service.1 He had one other son and three daughters by his first wife, all of whom died without issue, and another son and a daughter by his second marriage, both of whom were childless.1
