He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Cornet in 1777 in the 2nd Dragoons.1 He gained the rank of Major in 1783 in the 83rd Foot.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1794.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baron Guilford, co. Surrey [E., 1683] on 20 April 1802.1 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Guilford [G.B., 1752] on 20 April 1802.1 He wrote the book The Kentish Barons, published 1817, a play.1

Maria Boycott is the daughter of Thomas Boycott.2 She married Lt.-Col. Francis North, 4th Earl of Guilford, son of Frederick North, 2nd Earl of Guilford and Anne Speke, on 19 July 1810.1

Lady Catherine Anne North was born on 16 February 1760.1 She was the daughter of Frederick North, 2nd Earl of Guilford and Anne Speke.2 She married Sylvester Douglas, 1st and last Baron Glenbervie on 25 September 1789.1 She died on 6 February 1817 at age 56.1
