Sir James Sinclair of Mey, 1st Bt. was the son of Sir William Sinclair of Mey and Katherine Ross.2 He married Elizabeth Leslie, daughter of Patrick Leslie, 1st Lord Lindores and Lady Jean Stewart, circa 26 July 1628.1 He died on 20 April 1662.1
He was also known as James Sinclair of Canisbay.1 He was created 1st Baronet Sinclair, of Canisbay, co. Caithness [Nova Scotia] on 2 June 1631, with special remainder to heirs male whatsoever.1

Sir William Augustus Cunynghame of Milncraig, 4th Bt. was born on 8 April 1747 at Milncraig, Ayrshire, Scotland.2,3 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Sir David Cunynghame of Milncraig, 3rd Bt. and Lady Mary Montgomerie.4 He was baptised on 10 April 1747.3 He married, firstly, Frances Myrton, daughter of Sir Robert Myrton of Gogar, 2nd Bt., on 21 October 1768.1 He married, secondly, Mary Udney, daughter of Robert Udney of Udney and Mary Hougham, on 22 June 1785.1 He died on 17 January 1828 at age 80.1
He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Cunynghame, of Milncraig, co. Ayr [N.S., 1702] on 10 October 1767.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Linlithgowshire between 1774 and 1790.1
