James Hozier was born on 14 November 1791.1 He was the son of William Hozier and Jean Campbell.1 He married Catherine Margaret Feilden, daughter of Sir William Feilden, 1st Bt. and Mary Haughton Jackson, on 11 May 1824.1 He died on 12 January 1878 at age 86.1

William Wallace Hozier, 1st Baron Newlands was born on 24 February 1825.2 He was the son of James Hozier and Catherine Margaret Feilden.1,2 He married Frances Anne O'Hara, daughter of John O'Hara and Arabella Blake, in August 1849.3,2 He died on 30 January 1906 at age 80.2
He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Scots Greys.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the Lanarkshire Regiment.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 4th Battalion, Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the auxiliary forces.2 He was created 1st Baronet Hozier [U.K.] on 12 June 1890.2 He was created 1st Baron Newlands, of Newlands, and Barrowfield, in the county of the city of Glasgow, and of Mauldslie Castle, co. She was the daughter of Karl Otto graf zu Solms-Laubach and Amoena Elisabeth von Bentheim-Tecklenburg.1 She married Philip Landgraf von Hessen-Philippsthal, son of Wilhelm VI Landgraf von Hessen-Kassel, on 16 April 1680.
