John Mervyn Manningham-Buller, 2nd Viscount Dilhorne was born on 28 February 1932.1 He was the son of Reginald Edward Manningham-Buller, 1st Viscount Dilhorne and Lady Mary Lilian Lindsay.1 He married, firstly, Gillian Stockwell, daughter of Colonel George Cochrane Stockwell and Evelyn Dorothy Heywood, on 8 October 1955.1 He and Gillian Stockwell were divorced in 1973.1 He married, secondly, Professor Susannah Jane Eykyn, daughter of Commander William Canning Eykyn, on 17 December 1981.1 He died on 25 June 2022 at age 90.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1957 in the Coldstream Guards, RARO.1 He held the office of Member of the Wiltshire County Council between 1967 and 1970.1 He was managing director of Stewart, Smith (LP & M) Ltd between 1970 and 1974.1 He was a practising barrister in 1979.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Dilhorne, of Towcester, co. Lt.-Col. Sir Mervyn Edward Manningham-Buller, 3rd Bt. was born on 16 January 1876.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Edmund Manningham Manningham-Buller and Lady Anne Coke.1 He married Hon. Lilah Constance Cavendish, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Charles Compton William Cavendish, 3rd Baron Chesham and Lady Beatrice Constance Grosvenor, on 8 July 1903.2 He died on 22 August 1956 at age 80.1
He fought in the Boer War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Northamptonshire.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Northamptonshire Imperial Yeomanry.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Manningham-Buller, of Dilhorne Hall, Staffs [U.K., 1866] on 27 April 1910.1 He was Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel of the 12th Battalion, Rifle Brigade in 1914.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Rifle Brigade.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kettering between 1924 and 1929.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Northampton between 1931 and 1940.1

Charles Compton William Cavendish, 3rd Baron Chesham and Lady Beatrice Constance Grosvenor.2 She married Lt.-Col. Sir Mervyn Edward Manningham-Buller, 3rd Bt., son of Maj.-Gen. Sir Thomas Aston, 1st Bt. was born on 29 September 1600 at Shropshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of John Aston and Maud Needham.1 He married, firstly, Magdalen Poulteney, daughter of Sir John Poulteney, in 1627.1 He married, secondly, Anne Willoughby, daughter of Sir Henry Willoughby, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Knollys, in 1639.1 He died on 24 March 1645/46 at age 45 at Stafford, EnglandG, from a blow to the head received while escaping from the captivity of the Parliamentarians.1 He was buried at Aston, Cheshire, EnglandG.1
