Brigadier William Holcroft Blood was born on 29 May 1887.1 He was the son of John Blood and Jane Studdert.1 He married, firstly, Ierne Cecilia Hawkins, daughter of Captain Herbert Reginald Montgomery Hawkins and Hilda Nugent Bankes, on 12 October 1920.1 He and Ierne Cecilia Hawkins were divorced in 1935.1 He married, secondly, Helen Gertrude Gordon Wheeler, daughter of Walter Livingstone Wheeler, on 16 January 1936.2
