     Sir William James Montgomery-Cuninghame of Corsehill, 9th Bt. was born on 20 May 1834.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Montgomery-Cuninghame of Cuninghame, 8th Bt. and Charlotte Niven Doig Hutcheson.1 He married Elizabeth Hartopp, daughter of Edward Bourchier Hartopp and Honoria Gent, on 22 April 1869.1 He died on 11 November 1897 at age 63.1
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Crimean War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 4th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers.1 He was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.)1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Cuninghame, of Corsehill, co. Ayr [N.S., 1672] on 30 August 1870.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ayr Burghs between 1874 and 1880.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1

     Sir Thomas Andrew Alexander Montgomery-Cuninghame of Corsehill, 10th Bt. was born on 30 March 1877.1 He was the son of Sir William James Montgomery-Cuninghame of Corsehill, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Hartopp.1,2 He married, firstly, Alice Frances Denison Des Voeux, daughter of Sir George William Des Voeux, on 1 November 1904.1 He and Alice Frances Denison Des Voeux were divorced in 1925.1 He married, secondly, Nancy Macaulay Foggo, daughter of W. Stewart Foggo, on 24 November 1925.1 He died on 5 January 1945 at age 67.2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Cuninghame, of Corsehill, co. Ayr [N.S., 1672] on 11 November 1897.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1901, where he was mentioned in despatches twice and was wounded.1 He was Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.1 He was Deputy Adjutant Quartermaster-General between 1909 and 1912, 5th Division, Irish Command.1 He was Military Attaché to Vienna and Cetinje between 1912 and 1914.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Rifle Brigade.1 He was Military Attaché to Athens between 1915 and 1916.1 He was awarded the Maria Theresia Medal Austria.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre Czecho-Slovak.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal (D.S.M.) U.S.1 He was British Representative in 1918 at American Staff College, France.1 He was awarded the Commandeur, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.1 He was awarded the Order of the Redeemer of Greece.1 He was awarded the Knight Grand Cross, Order of George I of Greece.1 He was British Military Representative to Austria between 1919 and 1920.1 He was Military Attaché to Vienna between 1920 and 1923.1

     Alice Frances Denison Des Voeux was the daughter of Sir George William Des Voeux.1 She married Sir Thomas Andrew Alexander Montgomery-Cuninghame of Corsehill, 10th Bt., son of Sir William James Montgomery-Cuninghame of Corsehill, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Hartopp, on 1 November 1904.1 She and Sir Thomas Andrew Alexander Montgomery-Cuninghame of Corsehill, 10th Bt. were divorced in 1925.1 She died on 9 June 1966.1
     From 1 November 1904, her married name became Montgomery-Cuninghame.1 She was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1940.1
