Lt.-Col. Charles Cecil Hayford Thorold1

     Lt.-Col. Charles Cecil Hayford Thorold was born on 26 December 1852.2 He was the son of Sir John Charles Thorold, 11th Bt. and Elizabeth Frances Thoroton-Hildyard.2 He married Mary Gertrude Browning, daughter of Thomas Browning, on 22 September 1883.2 He died on 24 February 1900 at age 47, killed in action, without issue.2
     He fought in the Boer War.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 2nd Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers.2
