     Lieutenant David Edmund Cole-Hamilton was born on 6 April 1914.1 He was the son of Venerable Richard Mervyn Cole-Hamilton and Margaret Bennett.1 He married Anne Cole-Hamilton, daughter of George William Cole-Hamilton and Katherine Edith Baker, on 2 July 1938.2 He died on 14 June 1942 at age 28, killed on active service in the Mediterranean.2,3
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the Second World War.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1941 and bar (1942.)1
