Captain Charles Robert Barton was born on 15 November 1832.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Hugh William Barton and Mary Caroline Johnston.1 He married Henrietta Martha Mervyn Richardson, daughter of Henry Mervyn Richardson, on 1 August 1872.2 He died on 23 November 1918 at age 86.2
