Lt. John Francis Arundell, 16th Baron Arundell of Wardour was born on 18 June 1907.1 He was the son of Gerald Arthur Arundell, 15th Baron Arundell of Wardour and Ivy Florence Mary Segrave.1 He died on 25 September 1944 at age 37, unmarried.1
He was educated at Stonyhurst College, Blackburn, Lancashire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He succeeded as the 16th Baron Arundell of Wardour, co. Wiltshire [E., 1605] on 30 March 1939.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment.1 He fought in the Second World War, and became a POW in 1940, including a spell in Colditz before being repatriated to Britain in 1944 with tuberculosis.3
On his death, the Barony of Arundell of Wardour became extinct.1
