     Lt. John Francis Arundell, 16th Baron Arundell of Wardour was born on 18 June 1907.¹ He was the son of Gerald Arthur Arundell, 15th Baron Arundell of Wardour and Ivy Florence Mary Segrave.¹ He died on 25 September 1944 at age 37, unmarried.¹
     He was educated at Stonyhurst College, Blackburn, Lancashire, England^G.¹ He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)² He succeeded as the 16th Baron Arundell of Wardour, co. Wiltshire [E., 1605] on 30 March 1939.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment.¹ He fought in the Second World War, and became a POW in 1940, including a spell in Colditz before being repatriated to Britain in 1944 with tuberculosis.³
     On his death, the Barony of Arundell of Wardour became extinct.¹

     Catherine Stewart was the daughter of Sir Robert Stewart of Innermeath.¹ She married John Bethune, 1st of Balfour.¹
     Her married name became Bethune.²

     Sir Renfred de Arundel was born circa 1180.² He married Margaret (?)¹

     Christian Stewart was the daughter of Sir John Stewart of Innermeath, 3rd of Lorn and Isabella Macdougall.² She married James Dundas of Dundas, son of John de Dundas.¹
     Her married name became Dundas.

     Sir Ralph de Arundel was born circa 1208 at Lanherne, Cornwall, England^G.² He was the son of Sir Renfred de Arundel and Margaret (?)¹ He married Eva de Rupe, daughter of Richard de Rupe.¹ He died before October 1275.¹
     He gained the title of Lord of Trelory and St. Colomb [feudal barony].¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Cornwall in 1260.¹

     Isabel Stewart was the daughter of Sir John Stewart of Innermeath, 3rd of Lorn and Isabella Macdougall.¹ She married, secondly, Sir David Murray of Tullibardine, son of Walter Murray of Tullibardine and Margaret le Baird.² She married, firstly, Sir William Oliphant of Aberdalgie.¹
     Her married name became Oliphant.¹ Her married name became Murray.²

     Margaret (?) married Sir Renfred de Arundel.¹
     Her married name became de Arundel.¹

     Lawrence de Arundel is the son of Sir Renfred de Arundel and Margaret (?)¹

     Jean Stewart was the daughter of Sir John Stewart of Innermeath, 3rd of Lorn and Isabella Macdougall.^1,2 She married Sir David Bruce of Clackmannan, son of Sir Robert Bruce, 3rd of Clackmannan and unknown Scrymgeour.¹
     Her married name became Bruce.¹

     Odo de Arundel is the son of Sir Renfred de Arundel and Margaret (?)¹
