Sir Robert Ladbroke was born in 1713 at Knightcote, Burton Dassett, Warwickshire, England.2,3 He married Elizabeth Brown, daughter of John Brown and Frances Peek, on 7 November 1734 at St. Botolph, Bishopgate, London, England.2,3 He died on 31 October 1773.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 11 November 1773.3
He held the office of Alderman of the City of London in 1741.3 He held the office of High Sheriff of London in 1743.3 He was appointed Knight on 18 February 1744/45.3 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London in 1747.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for London between 1754 and 1770.2 In 1770 he founded the private bank of Ladbroke & Company, London (later Ladbroke, Gillman & Kingscote before merging with Glyn, Hallifax, Mills & Company.)2 His last will was dated 27 August 1773.3
