     Joan Thorpe is the daughter of Edmund Thorpe.1 She married, firstly, Sir Robert Echingham before 1431.1 She married, secondly, Sir John Clifton, son of Constantine de Clifton, 2nd Lord Clifton and Margaret Howard, before 6 January 1431/32.1
     From before 1431, her married name became Echingham.1 From before 6 January 1431/32, her married name became Clifton.1

     From 30 September 1926, her married name became Yorke. She was Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1956.1
