Colonel Douglas Edward Cayley was born on 15 July 1870.1 He was the son of Henry Cayley and Letitia Mary Walters.2 He married Jessie Eyre Duff Gibbon, daughter of Sir William Duff Gibbon, on 7 November 1906.1 He died on 19 December 1951 at age 81.1
He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded and mentioned in despatches.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1915.1 He was awarded the Order of the White Eagle of Serbia 3rd Class with swords.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre Belgium.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.1 He was awarded the Order of the Crown of Belgium.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1919.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 4th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Major-General in 1920.1

Commander Richard Douglas Cayley was born on 6 October 1907.1 He was the son of Colonel Douglas Edward Cayley and Jessie Eyre Duff Gibbon.2 He married Nancy Violet Coutts, daughter of Edward Coutts, on 22 April 1933.1 He died on 8 January 1943 at age 35, killed in action while commanding H.M. Submarine P311.1,3

Nancy Violet Coutts was the daughter of Edward Coutts.3 She married, firstly, Commander Richard Douglas Cayley, son of Colonel Douglas Edward Cayley and Jessie Eyre Duff Gibbon, on 22 April 1933.1 She married, secondly, H. S. Gild after 1943.1 She died on 10 September 2006 at Alnwick, Northumberland, England.2
