     Hon. Bertram Leo French was born on 15 February 1900.¹ He was the son of Arthur French, 4th Baron de Freyne of Coolavin and Marie Georgiana Lamb.¹ He married Maud Mary Dease, daughter of Edmund Fitzlaurence Dease and Katherine Murray, on 18 January 1927.¹ He died on 11 May 1941 at age 41.¹
     He was educated at The Oratory School, Edgbaston, Warwickshire, England.² He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards (Special Reserves.)¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹
