     Henry Edwyn Chandos Scudamore-Stanhope, 9th Earl of Chesterfield was born on 8 April 1821.1 He was the son of Sir Edwyn Francis Scudamore-Stanhope, 2nd Bt. and Mary Dowell.1 He was baptised on 24 May 1821 at Teignmouth, Devon, EnglandG.1 He married Dorothea Hay, daughter of Sir Adam Hay, 7th Bt. and Henrietta Callender Grant, on 6 August 1851 at St. John's Church, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.2 He died on 21 January 1887 at age 65 at Victoria Hotel, St. Leonards-on-Sea, Sussex, EnglandG.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 8 March 1887 at Hereford, Herefordshire, EnglandG, at over £13,000.2
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Stanhope, of Stanwell House, co.      Dorothea Hay was born circa 1828.2 She was the daughter of Sir Adam Hay, 7th Bt. and Henrietta Callender Grant.1 She married Henry Edwyn Chandos Scudamore-Stanhope, 9th Earl of Chesterfield, son of Sir Edwyn Francis Scudamore-Stanhope, 2nd Bt. and Mary Dowell, on 6 August 1851 at St. John's Church, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 She died on 26 April 1923 at 26 Eaton Gardens, Chelsea, London, EnglandG.2 She was buried on 1 May 1923 at Holme Lacey, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.2 Her will was proven (by probate) in July 1923, at £10,701 gross and £9,815 net.2
     From 6 August 1851, her married name became Scudamore-Stanhope.1 After her marriage, Dorothea Hay was styled as Countess of Chesterfield on 19 October 1883.

Mary Elizabeth Forbes.2 He married Henrietta Callender Grant, daughter of William Grant and Dorothea Dalrymple, on 23 March 1823 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2,3 He died on 18 January 1867 at age 71 at Cannes, France.2
     He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Hay, of Smithfield, co. Peebles [N.S., 1635] on 1 November 1838.2

Mary Elizabeth Forbes, on 23 March 1823 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.3,2 She died on 6 June 1849 at age 47.3
     From 23 March 1823, her married name became Hay.3
