General Sir Frederick Francis Maude, V.C. was born on 20 December 1821.1 He was the son of Rev. Hon. John Charles Maude and Mary Cely Trevilian.2 He married Catherine Mary Bisshopp, daughter of Very Rev. Sir George Bisshopp, 9th Bt. and Catherine Elizabeth Sproule, on 22 February 1853.1 He died on 20 June 1897 at age 75.1
He was Legion Honour and Medjidie.1 He gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in the 3rd Regiment.3 He fought in the Crimean War, where he was wounded.3 He was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.) on 24 February 1857, for his actions on 5 September 1855.3 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)4
