William Proby was the son of Charles Proby and Dorothy Torriano.1 He married Henrietta Cornwall, daughter of Robert Cornwall.2 He died circa 19 January 1739.1,3 He was also reported to have died on 19 January 1745.2 He was buried on 22 January 1739 at Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England.3
He held the office of Governor of Fort St. George, Madras.1 He was with the Honourable East India Company's Service.2 He lived at Rans, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He lived at Elton, Huntingdonshire, EnglandG.1
