Elizabeth Dick1

     Elizabeth Dick was the daughter of Sir Alexander Dick of Prestonfield, 3rd Bt. and Mary Butler.1,2 She married Hon. Robert Lindsay, son of James Lindsay, 5th Earl of Balcarres and Anne Dalrymple, on 25 November 1788.1 She died on 4 July 1835.1
     Her married name became Lindsay.

Sir Alexander Dick of Prestonfield, 3rd Bt.1

     Sir Alexander Dick of Prestonfield, 3rd Bt. was born on 22 September 1703.2 He was the son of Sir William Cuninghame, 9th of Caprington, 2nd Bt. and Janet Dick.3 He married, firstly, Janet Dick, daughter of Alexander Dick and Margaret Scot, on 1 April 1736.2 He married, secondly, Mary Butler, daughter of David Butler, on 23 March 1762.2 He died on 10 November 1786 at age 83.4
     He was given the name of Alexander Cuninghame at birth.2 He was educated at University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He graduated from Leyden University, Leyden, The NetherlandsG, in 1725 with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh (F.R.C.P.E.) in 1727.2 He graduated from St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland, in 1727 with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)2 In 1746 his name was legally changed to Alexander Dick.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Dick, of Prestonfield, co. Midlothian [S., 1707] on 14 January 1746.2 He was President of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh between 1756 and 1763.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (F.R.C.S.E.)2 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 21 December 1771.4

     Lady Elizabeth Hay was the daughter of William Hay, 3rd Earl of Erroll and Lady Elizabeth Leslie.1 She married David Lindsay, 8th Earl of Crawford, son of Alexander Lindsay of Auchtermonzie, 7th Earl of Crawford and Isobel Campbell, before 6 November 1500.1
     She was also known as Mariana. Her married name became Lindsay. She was living on 24 January 1510/11.1

     William Hay, 3rd Earl of Erroll was the son of William Hay, 1st Earl of Erroll and Lady Beatrix Douglas.2 He married, firstly, Lady Isabella Gordon, daughter of George Gordon, 2nd Earl of Huntly and Annabella Stewart.2 He married, secondly, Lady Elizabeth Leslie, daughter of George Leslie, 1st Earl of Rothes and Christian Haliburton, in 1485.3 He died on 14 January 1506/7.2
     He succeeded as the 4th Lord Hay [S., 1430] in 1470.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Erroll [S., 1452] in 1470.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland]2

Alexander Lindsay, Master of Crawford1

     Alexander Lindsay, Master of Crawford was the son of David Lindsay, 8th Earl of Crawford and Lady Elizabeth Hay.2 He married Jean Sinclair, daughter of Henry Sinclair, 3rd Lord Sinclair and Margaret Hepburn.1 He died circa 5 July 1542, killed in a broil, by a cobbler of Dundee.2
     He was styled as Master of Crawford.1 Alexander Lindsay, Master of Crawford also went by the nick-name of 'the Wicked Master'.2 On 16 February 1530/31 at Dundee, Angus, ScotlandG, he was arraigned, found guilty of constructive patricide, and was condemned to death.2 On 30 March 1537 he was forced to renounce all of his rights to the Earldom of Crawford.2

David Lindsay, 10th Earl of Crawford1

     David Lindsay, 10th Earl of Crawford was born circa 1527.1 He was the son of Alexander Lindsay, Master of Crawford and Jean Sinclair.1 He married Margaret Bethune, daughter of Cardinal David Bethune and Marion Ogilvy, circa 10 April 1546 at Finhaven Castle, Angus, ScotlandG.2 He died before 1 November 1574 at Finhaven Castle, Angus, ScotlandG.2 He was also reported to have died at Cairnie, ScotlandG.2 He was buried at Dundee, Angus, ScotlandG.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 25 July 1579.2
     He succeeded as the 10th Earl of Crawford [S., 1398] on 20 September 1558.1 On 8 July 1559 he obtained a new grant of the Earldom, limited it to heirs general of his own body (thus disinheriting the male issue of the previous Earl). This creation was however annulled by Queen Mary on 22 March 1564/5.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] on 29 October 1565.2 He fought in the Battle of Langside in 1568, on Queen Mary's side.1
