Captain Andrew Alexander was born in 1625.2 He was the son of Reverend Andrew Alexander and Dorothea Caulfeild.3,4 He married, firstly, Jessie Philips, daughter of Governor Sir Thomas Phillips.1 He married, secondly, unknown Hillhouse, daughter of Laird unknown (?), of Hilles.1
He lived at Gannochy, Errigal, County Londonderry, IrelandG.1 In 1666 he was granted the lands of Ballyclose, nearr Newtown Limavaddy, County Londonderry, by Sir Thomas Phillips, Governor of Culmore Fort, Londonderry.1 He lived at Ballyclose, Newtown Limavaddy, County Londonderry, IrelandG.4 In 1689 he was attainted by King James II’s Parliament in Dublin.1 He was the ancestor of the Alexanders of Ahilly by his first wife.1
