     Sir Herbert Raphael, 1st and last Bt. was born on 23 December 1859.3 He was the son of Henry Lewis Raphael and Henrietta Raphael.1,3 He married Rosalie Coster, daughter of William Frederick Coster, on 5 November 1884.3 He died on 24 September 1924 at age 64.2
     He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1881 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)3 He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1881 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)3 He was a practising barrister-at-law in 1883.3 He held the office of member of London County Council in 1889.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for South Derbyshire between 1906 and 1918.3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Essex.3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Derbyshire.3 He was created 1st Baronet Raphael, of Cavendish Square in the Metropolitan Borough of St. Marylebone [U.K.] on 10 February 1911.3
