Lt.-Col. John Edward Tennant was born on 12 October 1890.2 He was the son of Francis John Tennant and Annie Geraldine Redmayne.2 He married, firstly, Georgina Helen Kirkpatrick, daughter of General Sir George Macaulay Kirkpatrick and Mary Lydia Dennistoun, on 22 May 1918.3 He and Georgina Helen Kirkpatrick were divorced in 1925.3 He married, secondly, Victoria Maud Veronica Duff, daughter of Sir Robert George Vivian Duff, 2nd Bt. and Lady Gladys Mary Juliet Lowther, on 17 July 1926.3,2 He died on 7 August 1941 at age 50, killed in action.2
