     Hon. Thomas Townshend was born on 2 June 1701.1 He was the son of Charles Townshend, 2nd Viscount Townshend of Raynham and Hon. Elizabeth Pelham.2 He married Albinia Selwyn, daughter of Colonel John Selwyn and Mary Farrington, on 2 May 1730.1 He died on 21 May 1780 at age 78.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cambridge University.1 He was a Teller of the Exchequer.1

     Elizabeth Reid Cotton was born on 9 December 1842 at Tasmania, Australia.2 She was the daughter of General Sir Arthur Thomas Cotton and Elizabeth Learmonth.3 She married, firstly, Admiral Sir James Hope, son of Admiral Sir George Hope-Vere and Lady Jemima Hope Johnstone, on 2 December 1877.1 She married, secondly, Thomas Anthony Denny, son of Henry Denny, on 27 September 1893.1 She died on 8 March 1922 at age 79.1
     From 2 December 1877, her married name became Hope. From 27 September 1893, her married name became Denny.1
