Sir Robert Newcomen, 1st Bt. was the son of Charles Newcomen and Jane Nightingale.1 He married, firstly, Catherine Molyneux, daughter of Sir Thomas Molyneux and Catherine Salaboethe, before 1600.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Wentworth, daughter of John Wentworth, after 1605.2 He died on 28 September 1629.1
He lived at Mosstown, County Longford, IrelandG.3 He was created 1st Baronet Newcomen, of Kenagh, co. Longford [Ireland] on 30 December 1623.

Sir Thomas Molyneux was born in 1531 at Calais, France.2 He married Catherine Salaboethe, daughter of Lodowick Salaboethe.2 He died in 1596.2
He fell into the hands of the enemy on the capture of Calais, and was ransomed for 500 crowns.2 He emigrated to England arriving on 1568.2 He emigrated arriving on 1576 he was sent to Ireland by Queen Elizabeth.2 In 1576 he obtained the lease for 21 years of the imports and exports of the city of Dublin, with an annual rent of £183.2 He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer [Ireland] between 1576 and 1596.3,2
