     Sir John Borlase, 1st Bt. was born on 21 August 1619 at Littlecote, Wiltshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Sir William Borlase and Amy Popham.1 He married Alice Bankes, daughter of Sir John Bankes and Mary Hawtrey, on 4 December 1637 at St. Gile's-in-the-Fields Church, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 8 August 1672 at age 52 at Bockmer, Medmenham, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He was buried on 12 August 1672 at Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 19 August 1672.1
     He matriculated at Magdalen Hall, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 30 April 1635.1 He was admitted to Inner Temple on 27 January 1636/37.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Great Marlow from April 1640 to November 1640.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Corfe Castle from January 1641 to 4 March 1643/44.1 He was created 1st Baronet Borlase, of Bockmer, co. Bucks and of Stratton Audley, co. Oxford [England] on 4 May 1642.1 On 10 January 1645/46 he was fined £6,800 as a delinquent, and imprisoned by the Puritan Party.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wycombe from 1661 to 1672.1 His last will was dated 7 August 1672.
