Sir Matthew Blakiston, 1st Bt. was born circa 1702.1 He was the son of George Blakiston and Elizabeth Kay.1 He married, firstly, Margaret Hall, daughter of Reverend Charles Hall.1 He married, secondly, Mary (?)1 He married, thirdly, Annabella Bayley, daughter of Thomas Bayley and Bridget Dixie, on 8 April 1760 at St. John's, Westminster, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 14 July 1774 at Jermyn Street, London, EnglandG.1
He was a grocer at London, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Alderman of London between 23 May 1750 and 20 June 1769.1 He held the office of Sheriff of London from 1753 to 1754.1 He was appointed Knight on 8 June 1759 at Kensington, London, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London from 1760 to 1761.1 He was created 1st Baronet Blakiston, of London [Great Britain] on 22 April 1763.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Green Regiment of the London Militia.1
