John Campbell was born illegitimately in 1705.1,2,3 He was the son of Hon. Colin Campbell and Grizelda Douglas.1,2 He married, firstly, Jean Stirling in 1728.2 He married, secondly, Ann Carolina Campbell, daughter of James Campbell of Tofts, on 15 April 1751.2 He died on 28 January 1777 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2

Lt.-Gen. Colin Campbell was born on 21 November 1754.2 He was the son of John Campbell and Ann Carolina Campbell.1,2 He married Mary Johnson, daughter of Colonel Guy Johnson and Mary Johnson.1 He died on 2 April 1814 at age 59.1
He was commissioned in 1771 with the rank of officer, in the service of the 71st Regiment of Foot.3 He gained the rank of officer in 1783 in the 6th Regiment of Foot.3 He was Colonel of the 55th Regiment.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Gibraltar in 1810.1
He had five younger sons and five daughters.1
