     James Edward Hunter was the son of John L. Hunter.¹ He married Hon. Margaret Lane Fox, daughter of George Richard Lane-Fox, 1st and last Baron Bingley and Hon. Mary Agnes Emily Wood, on 16 May 1951.¹ He died in 1957.¹

     She was appointed Dame Commander, Order of the British Empire (D.B.E.) in 1990.¹ She gained the title of Dame Jane Gow in 1990.¹ From 4 February 1994, her married name became Whiteley.¹
