Lt.-Col. Edmund Christopher Packe was born on 14 November 1877.2 He was the son of Reverend William James Packe.2 He married Olivia Rachel Nora Maclean, daughter of Charles Maclean, on 24 February 1908.2 He died on 24 April 1961 at age 83.2
He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England.2 He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was commissioned in 1899 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Fusiliers.2 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, where he was wounded.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Leicestershire in 1921.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Leicestershire in 1935.1 He lived at Great Glen Hall, Leicestershire, EnglandG.1
