Charles Ian Kerr, 1st Baron Teviot was born on 3 May 1874.2 He was the son of Charles Wyndham Rodolph Kerr and Anna Maria Olivia Elliot.1 He married, firstly, Muriel Constance Canning, daughter of William Gordon Canning, on 24 January 1911.2 He and Muriel Constance Canning were divorced in 1930.2 He married, secondly, Florence Angela Villiers, daughter of Lt.-Col. Charles Walter Villiers and Lady Kathleen Mary Cole, on 31 July 1930.2 He died on 7 January 1968 at age 93.2
He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Horse Guards and MGC.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1919.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
