     Richard Arthur Warren Hughes was born on 19 April 1900.2 He is the son of Arthur Hughes and Louisa Grace Warren.2 He married Frances Catharine Ruth Bazley, daughter of Gardner Sebastian Bazley and Ruth Evelyn Howard, on 8 January 1932.1 He died on 28 April 1976 at age 76.2
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, EnglandG.2 He was Deputy Principal Priority Officer Admiralty.2 He was educated at Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He wrote the book A High Wind in Jamaica, published 1929.2 He was a poet, playwright and novelist.2 He wrote the book In Hazard, published 1938.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1946.2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) by University of Wales, WalesG, in 1956.2 He wrote the book A Fox in the Attic, published 1961.2 He wrote the book The Wooden Shepherdess.2 He lived at Mor Edrin, Talsarnau, Merionethshire, WalesG.1
