     James George Stopford, 3rd Earl of Courtown was born on 15 August 1765 at Berkeley Square, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of James Stopford, 2nd Earl of Courtown and Mary Powys.¹ He was baptised at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.¹ He married Lady Mary Scott, daughter of Henry Scott, 3rd Duke of Buccleuch and Lady Elizabeth Montagu, on 29 January 1791 at Grosvenor Square, St. George Hanover Square, London, England^G.¹ He died on 15 June 1835 at age 69 at The Cloisters, Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He died intestate and his estate was administered in August 1836.¹

     Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney of St. Leonards was born on 24 February 1732/33 at London, England.^1,2 He was the son of Hon. Thomas Townshend and Albinia Selwyn.¹ He married Elizabeth Powys, daughter of Richard Powys and Lady Mary Brudenell, on 19 May 1760.¹ He died on 30 June 1800 at age 67 at Frognal, Chislehurst, Kent, England.^1,2

Harriet Katherine Townshend.¹ He married Alicia Anne Spottiswoode, daughter of John Spottiswoode of Spottiswoode and Helen Wauchope, on 10 March 1836.¹ He died on 3 January 1860 at age 50.¹

     Alicia Anne Spottiswoode was the daughter of John Spottiswoode of Spottiswoode and Helen Wauchope.^1,2 She married Lord John Douglas Scott, son of Charles William Henry Montagu-Scott, 4th Duke of Buccleuch and Hon. Harriet Katherine Townshend, on 10 March 1836.¹ She died on 12 March 1900.¹
     Her married name became Scott. She was composer of Annie Laurie.¹ Her name was legally changed to Spottiswoode.¹

     Lady Charlotte Albina Montagu-Scott was born on 16 July 1799 at Dalkeith House^G.² She was the daughter of Charles William Henry Montagu-Scott, 4th Duke of Buccleuch and Hon. Harriet Katherine Townshend.¹ She married James Thomas Stopford, 4th Earl of Courtown, son of James George Stopford, 3rd Earl of Courtown and Lady Mary Scott, on 4 July 1822 at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster, London, England^G.² She died on 29 February 1828 at age 28 at Rome, Italy^G.²
     Her married name became Stopford.

     James Thomas Stopford, 4th Earl of Courtown was born on 27 March 1794 at St. James's Place, St. James's, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of James George Stopford, 3rd Earl of Courtown and Lady Mary Scott.¹ He married, firstly, Lady Charlotte Albina Montagu-Scott, daughter of Charles William Henry Montagu-Scott, 4th Duke of Buccleuch and Hon. Harriet Katherine Townshend, on 4 July 1822 at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster, London, England^G.² He married, secondly, Dora Pennefather, daughter of Rt. Hon. Edward Pennefather and Susannah Darby, on 29 October 1850 at St. Peter's Church, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G.² He died on 20 November 1858 at age 64 at Courtown House, Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland^G.²

     Lady Isabella Mary Montagu-Scott was born circa 1805. She was the daughter of Charles William Henry Montagu-Scott, 4th Duke of Buccleuch and Hon. Harriet Katherine Townshend.² She married Lt.-Col. Hon. Peregrine Francis Cust, son of Brownlow Cust, 1st Baron Brownlow of Belton and Frances Bankes, on 9 October 1823.¹ She died on 9 October 1829.²
     From 9 October 1823, her married name became Cust.

     Lt.-Col. Hon. Peregrine Francis Cust was born on 13 August 1791.² He was the son of Brownlow Cust, 1st Baron Brownlow of Belton and Frances Bankes.^3,2 He married, firstly, Lady Isabella Mary Montagu-Scott, daughter of Charles William Henry Montagu-Scott, 4th Duke of Buccleuch and Hon. Harriet Katherine Townshend, on 9 October 1823.² He married Hon. Sophia Mary Townshend, daughter of John Thomas Townshend, 2nd Viscount Sydney of St. Leonards and Hon. Sophia Southwell, on 15 January 1833.² He married, thirdly, Frances Steer, daughter of Charles Steer and Mary Wood, on 20 August 1860 at Ashbridge, Hertfordshire, England^G.¹ He died on 15 September 1873 at age 82.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.²
